Nottingham University Law Society Cocktail Social
On Monday the 25th of January 2010 Allen & Overy kindly sponsored the University of Nottingham Law Society’s Cocktail Social. The evening saw a hundred and fifty law students come together under the Allen & Overy name to let their hair down after a stressful fortnight of revision and mid-year examinations and officially kick-start the beginning of term.
The evening began in Brownes, a modern cocktail night spot located in Nottingham’s historic lace market. Students were invited to sample a wide range of Brownes’ signature cocktails, ranging from the minty Mojito to the vibrant Strawberry Daiquiris. The evening proved a great opportunity for everyone to come together and forget about the stress of the past weeks. Beyond this, it was also a chance for both first, second and third year lawyers to come together and was very much indicative of the Law Society’s aim of bringing the student body of the Law School together as a whole. The two trainees from Allen & Overy, Kate Reed and Helen Armstrong, were also in attendance and soon got stuck into both their cocktails and conversation about life as a trainee in a city firm, shedding valuable insight for many students who are in the midst of looking forward to their careers.
The evening ended in one of Nottingham’s favourite student locations, Oceana, where everyone came together to let loose and dance the night away. On behalf of the students in the Law School, the Nottingham University Law Society would like to thank Allen & Overy for their kind and generous sponsorship of this event. We couldn’t think of a better way for us to start the new year!
