From football, rugby, cricket and tennis, to the more unusual sports, London is host to numerous sporting activities and has enough sporting events to keep even the keenest sporting enthusiast entertained.  London is a city with a real passion for sport and it will of course be hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012 with a particular focus on east London.  The city is already getting ready for this momentous event, which will see the best athletes in the world converge on the capital for two weeks of sporting extravaganza.

A testament to London's ability to attract world class sporting events is the fact that the biggest annual sporting event in the world, the Tour de France, recently started in the city for the first time in its 100 year history.  Around 200 of the world's best cyclists raced for the legendary yellow jersey as part of the Grand Depart in what was an exhilarating spectacle for those in attendance.

At Allen & Overy, we have a variety of different sports teams which cater for the wide range of sporting interests amongst the trainees.  As vice-captain of the men's football team I play twelve months a year, as we compete in the London Legal league.  We have a number of trainees in the side, with a number of social events throughout the year.  As a member of the cricket team, I have played against a number of different firms across the City, and have been involved in the organisation of cricket tours overseas.  Working at A&O you will have easy access to great sporting facilities which you should really make the most of.  We've got a fantastic gym in the building, as well as a sports hall where you can play 3-a-side football, badminton and other team sports.  Softball and squash proved popular in the summer months and can be played locally.  With all this on offer, there should be something that appeals!
