Allen & Overy are delighted to be sponsoring the London Universities Mooting Shield for 2007/2008.  The competition includes undergraduates from KCL, LSE, SOAS and UCL.  Read on to find out more about the competition and for details about the current league table.

Introduction to LUMS

Any lawyer experienced in the art of advocacy will tell you that this skill can only be built through experience.  One way that many students achieve the chance of building their advocacy skills is through mooting.  The London University Mooting Shield began in June 2007 following a number of emails between the LSE and KCL.  This grew with the involvement of SOAS and UCL.  The four universities got together to arrange a mooting tournament aimed at all the universities within the London area.  We hope that in future years this will grow and develop to include many more than the four that started it all.  By arranging a competition that allowed the universities a friendly yet competitive atmosphere, the students involved with develop their skills of presentation, public speaking and legal argument, but also enjoy the competition on the spirit which it was established.  We hope this competition will grow and develop in years to come as publicity, prestige and participation allows it to expand.
