Allen & Overy

We are pleased to be sponsoring the "Allen & Overy International Open" to be hosted by the University of Edinburgh on February 3rd 2008, one of the most prestigious events in Parliamentary Debating this year.  Not only has almost every important University in the UK and Ireland sent teams, but most European countries are also represented, elevating the tournament to a truly global standard.

Teams compete for 3 rounds before the semi-final break is announced.  The best 4 teams compete in the public Grand Final to which all competitors as well as students from the University of Edinburgh are invited.

The quality of the competition will be ensured by our chief-adjudicators Adam Mckinlay (Mace Champion) and Barney Ross (two-time Mace Champion) as well as a star-studded panel of level 1 judges.

The social aspect of the tournament will provide a truly Scottish flavour, featuring a traditional Burns supper and a live-band Ceilidh.
